Tools of the Trade: Making the Right Resources Easier for Clients to Use

Overview

Recommending the right intimacy tool only helps when a client follows through and obtains it. WIMI helps therapists and coaches close that gap through consultations and customized client boxes containing carefully selected products, educational resources, and care supplies. Clinicians and clients can also explore WIMI’s deliberately small private boutique, where every product has been chosen for its quality and practical value. The goal is simple: reduce hesitation and guesswork so clients have the tools they need to take their next step.

Sex therapists and intimacy coaches regularly recommend practical resources for their clients. Depending on the client’s needs, that recommendation might involve a particular lubricant, vibrator, stroker, dilator set, positioning aid, pelvic floor resource, or educational guide.

Making the right recommendation matters. However, a recommendation only helps when the client acts on it.

The Gap Between Recommendation and Action

A client may leave a session intending to purchase the recommended supplies, then hesitate when it is time to order them. They may encounter dozens of products that appear nearly identical, struggle to remember which specifications you discussed, feel uncomfortable shopping for sexual products, or decide to put off the purchase until later.

That delay can interfere with the work you have already begun.

Instead of sending clients home with a list and hoping that they purchase the right products, I prefer to remove as many barriers as possible. Once I understand a couple’s goals, preferences, challenges, and comfort level, I can assemble the supplies they need and place everything in their hands at once.

They do not need to compare fifty vibrators, determine which lubricant works with a particular material, or wonder whether an inexpensive product will perform the intended function. They can focus on learning how to use the tools within the coaching or treatment plan.

Matching the Tool to the Client

There is no universal intimacy kit. The right products depend on the people using them and the purpose they need them to serve.

For example, a clinician incorporating vulvar vibration into a client’s care needs a vibrator capable of providing the appropriate type, range, and consistency of stimulation. A client working through vaginismus or another penetration-related concern may need clinician-directed dilators, a suitable lubricant, educational materials, and other resources that complement her medical or pelvic floor care.

Other clients may benefit from:

  • Manual or automatic strokers

  • One or more carefully selected vibrators

  • The Betty Dodson Barbell

  • Water-based or silicone-based lubricants

  • Positioning aids

  • Toy cleaners and care supplies

  • Educational resources or guided exercises

  • A discreet Liberator storage bag large enough to keep everything together

The goal is not to give clients the largest possible collection. The goal is to provide the right combination of tools for their particular work.

Curated Client Boxes

One of my favorite parts of sexual intimacy coaching is assembling a customized box for a couple. I typically do this after several sessions, once I have a clear understanding of their sexual styles, practical needs, goals, and areas of difficulty.

I can also provide this service in consultation with another therapist or coach.

If you believe a client would benefit from a curated box, contact me with a general description of the situation, the resources you believe may be helpful, and the client’s approximate budget. Please protect the client’s privacy and do not include unnecessary identifying or protected health information in an ordinary contact-form submission.

I will consider what is realistically possible within that budget and recommend a collection of appropriate products. If you and the client want to proceed, I will send an invoice, assemble the box, and arrange for it to be shipped to you or the client.

Because I purchase many of these products at wholesale, I may also be able to obtain better value than a client shopping for each item individually. More importantly, the client receives a coherent kit rather than an assortment of disconnected purchases.

Consultation for Coaches and Therapists

You may know what function a client needs without knowing which specific product will best serve it. You may also want a second opinion before recommending an unfamiliar type of marital aid.

I am happy to consult with sex therapists, sexual intimacy coaches, and other appropriate professionals about educational resources and practical tools. This consultation does not replace medical assessment, pelvic floor therapy, or treatment within a licensed professional’s scope. It helps translate an established clinical or coaching goal into practical resources the client can actually obtain and use.

A Small Boutique on Purpose

Clients and clinicians can also explore WIMI’s private boutique. The collection is deliberately small.

The sexual wellness market can become overwhelming quickly. Thousands of products compete for attention, but more options do not necessarily produce a better decision. I would rather offer a limited selection of high-quality products that I can confidently recommend than fill the boutique with items simply to make it look comprehensive.

The products included are there for specific reasons. They reflect the kinds of tools I recommend in my own coaching work and have used across the needs of many clients. We intentionally leave many products out because they do not meet the standards or purposes established for the boutique.

For clients, this means less guesswork. For clinicians, it provides a convenient place to direct clients when one of our selected products fits the work you are doing together.

Put the Tools in Their Hands

A thoughtful recommendation is valuable, but follow-through is better. When clients receive everything they need at once, we reduce hesitation, eliminate unnecessary shopping decisions, and help them move from discussing the next step to actually taking it.

If you are a clinician who wants help selecting or assembling resources for a client, use the WIMI contact form to describe the general need and approximate budget. If you are a client looking for a carefully selected product, visit the private boutique to explore the collection.
